Giving Traditional Father’s Day Gifts a Wolfram|Alpha Twist

In the United States and many other countries around the world, Father’s Day—the day we celebrate fatherhood and the important male figures in our lives—is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. This year, Father’s Day falls on June 15.

Here in the US, the stereotypical Father’s Day celebration might include a cookout and a round of golf. But what if you want to put a new spin on these old standbys for Father’s Day?

Instead of hosting one measly cookout for your dad, you could give him a hamburger every day for a year. He’d consume more than 153,800 calories, 8 kg of protein, and 7 kg of fat from hamburgers over the next 365 days.

365 hamburgers

To burn all those calories, he’d have to play golf for 18 days!

If your dad’s the kind of guy who appreciates mostly useless trivia, you could impress him with your knowledge of how many bowling balls it would take to fill a football field.

How many bowling balls in a football field?

Or how many golf balls it takes to fill a bowling ball.

How many golf balls in a bowling ball?

By the way, if you fill that football field with bowling balls and those bowling balls with golf balls, you’ve got yourself an inedible play on the Thanksgiving turducken.

However you celebrate this year, Happy Father’s Day from Wolfram|Alpha!
