Introducing Wolfram|Alpha Clip ’n Share—Share Your Results on Social Media Networks

Today we are introducing our new Clip ’n Share feature. Wolfram|Alpha users can now easily share individual result pods on their favorite social networks.

When you hover over a result pod, an icon tray featuring Wolfram|Alpha Pro functionality will appear. The brand new Clip ‘n Share feature, which is free and easy for anyone to use, is now included at the end of the icon list.

Click the icon and a window will pop up asking you to create a permanent shareable page. From there you can share the clipping on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, and other social media.

This way you can easily share just the information that you want. For example, when you enter “Dow” into Wolfram|Alpha, it will bring up its last value, recent returns, performance comparisons, and more. But what if you just want to share the price history? Scroll down to that specific pod, click the Clip ’n Share icon, and pick where you want to share it.

If you share a link to a Wolfram|Alpha query like “high temperature for today,” each friend who clicks that link will get a different result, depending on the time and location it’s clicked. But Clip ’n Share lets you preserve and share your own personalized results, for a specific moment in time:

Some Wolfram|Alpha queries, like “Jurassic Period,” provide a very extensive result page, but say you only want to comment on a very specific piece of information. Just clip the pod you want to share so that all of your social media followers know exactly what you want them to see:

Clip ’n Share is also handy when you want to share a pod with specific parameters. For example, the default result page for “Myoglobin” shows the atomic structure as a ball and stick model, but that can be changed by clicking the Show spacefilling button. By clipping and sharing this, you can avoid having to explain how to change the parameters.

For Wolfram|Alpha Pro subscribers, Clip ’n Share allows you to share the results of computations done on files you have uploaded. This Clip ’n Share image shows analysis performed on a user-uploaded file, which is normally only available to the Pro subscriber.

These are just a few examples of what is possible with the new Clip ’n Share feature. If you find a result pod that you need to tell the world about, make sure to share it on your preferred social website.

It would be nice to be able to save these to a cloud drive like google drive, sky drive, etc.

Would be really neat to be able to embed these clips.

This is great. But yes, being able to embed this feature in other sites would be really useful (and would make it easier for me to introduce my students and colleagues to Wolfram|Alpha).
