Do you need some help navigating your chemistry or precalculus classes? Or maybe you’re still trying to decide which classes to take this fall. Good news! Today, we’re releasing the Wolfram General Chemistry and Precalculus Course Assistant Apps, two more Wolfram|Alpha-powered course assistants that will help you better understand the concepts addressed in these classes.

If you’re taking chemistry, download the Wolfram General Chemistry Course Assistant App for everything from looking up simple properties like electron configurations to computing the stoichiometric amounts of solutes that are present in solutions of different concentrations. This app is handy for lab researchers, too!

The specialized keyboard allows you to enter chemicals by using formulas or by spelling out their names.

You’ll no longer have to flip through textbooks or pull out a calculator or pencil to perform calculations. With this app, your mobile device will contain more information than a five-pound textbook!

The Wolfram Precalculus Course Assistant App will help you through your entire course, from solving equations to trigonometry to combinatorics. Whether you need to evaluate a trigonometric expression like “sin(45 deg)” or simplify “sin(x) cot(x)”, this course assistant can help!

Or graph a parametric equation:

Are you learning about vectors? The Wolfram Precalculus Course Assistant can find the dot product and cross product of two vectors, as well as the norm of a single vector.

Try finding the cross product of (2, 7, 12) and (3, -4, 5). Not only will the course assistant give you the resulting vector, but it will also show you a visual representation of the vector.

Of course, this app also helps you master descriptive statistics and combinatorics. Try finding the median of this list of data: “3, 7, 1, 9, 14, 23, 11, 45, 62, 11” or the number of combinations when you choose seven out of a possible 10 items.

Both of these apps will not only help you ace your courses; they will also enable you to more fully understand the concepts. We’re looking forward to sharing more new course apps with you soon. In which course could you benefit from a guided course app? Share your suggestions below. We just might build it!

Very intriguing. I look forward to trying this out for myself. I think your question about courses is a good one. I could see this being very beneficial for Pre-Calculus on up into advanced college courses (maybe even some lower courses as well).

You have to develop a Symbian app !!??

Please!!

Make this! Make it, make it, make it! I’d definitely get one. I have Chemistry this Summer and could definitely use one for it. This is a perfect idea and I’m sure many chem and math majors would agree. Maybe even add some Applied Calculus with that Precalc as well. Do keep me updated, I’d love to see something like this available in the next two weeks before summer classes. Haha.
